Iowa wins 17-10 in OT — LIVE CHAT
Iowa won in overtime on a eight-yard touchdown pass from Jake Rudock to C.J. Fiedorowicz on third down as Northwestern brought a blitz and left Traveon Henry isolated on Iowa’s star tight end.
Northwestern’s offense looked dead as the team struggled to move the ball and kept shooting itself in the foot with penalties. It kind of looked like a good defensive effort would be wasted again.
Two Kain Colter completions to Dan Vitale changed that. Colter found Vitale for a 30-yard reception early in the drive and then connected with the superback for a 10-yard touchdown pass. It brings Northwestern within three points at 10-7 midway through the third quarter.
The Wildcats got the ball back and scored on a 29-yard field goal from Jeff Budzien. The bad news is Kain Colter left that drive with an apparent knee injury after running for a first down.
Chi Chi Ariguzo picked off a Jake Rudock pass on 4th and 11 with 15 seconds left to allow Northwestern to kneel the ball and send the game to overtime.
