Saturday Nuggets

Fitz does nothing while OCs call plays vs EIU

Happy Easter weekend everyone. Not a ton going on in the way of NU Football news despite a closed practice this morning. We’re going to serve up just a few nuggets on this weekend dominated by The Masters.

LTP N Flag Project

Yes, it is very much alive and well. The Northwestern N Flag Project continues all off-season as fans continue to snap photos of themselves with the Northwestern “N” flag and we then post it on a Google map, which you can see by clicking on the “N Flag Project” navigation bar at the top of this page. I continue to put a call out to the readership on whether or not new social media sharing site, Pinterest, would be an applicable medium for this project. I’d love your feedback and also a volunteer willing to help if we determine it is indeed the right solution. In the meantime, a couple of new entrants:

Ryan P. offered up a pair of newcomer countries to the project with the following:

Ryan P puts the 'Cat flag in Jakarta on the map!Ryan P & Sarah put Lisbon, Portugal on the LTP Map!

Bill and Pam F. also offer up a unique LTP flag project entrant as they once again take over Notre Dame…this time the real deal in front of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France!

Bill & Pam F. Show Notre Dame Cathedral How To Color The World Purple!

Ebert Finally Getting His Due

It still amazes me how Jeremy Ebert is somehow under the NFL radar. The standout WR was a first team All Big Ten WR and hauled in more than 1,000 yards (1060) and had 75 receptions yet somehow wasn’t even on the draft board until he popped eyes in the football world with a 4.38 40-yard dash at Northwestern’s pro day. He’s got the prototype of a New England Patriots draft pick. All anyone needs to see is his 80-yard explosive TD at Nebraska combined with his athletic TD receptions at Minnesota (2010) and Army to see he will be a legit threat in the League. Sports Illustrated has him as an NFL draft “riser” which you can see here.

‘Cat WLAX Continue To Roll
Northwestern continues to dominate women’s lacrosse as #1 NU pounded #12 Penn State 14-7 yesterday in Happy Valley. The ‘Cats return to action with an Easter Sunday tilt at Penn tomorrow. Here is the recap on how NU has moved to 11-0,3-0.
Spring Game
Let’s use this Easter weekend to rally the folks at brunch to get out to the Northwestern Spring Game next Saturday! Kickoff is at 12pm ct, but tailgating begins at 8:30 am in the lots. It is free and you get to mingle with the players and coaches after the game. We’ll be promoting it all week long. It’s the best way to get potential season ticket holders to convert! We’re stuck at only 9 season ticket holders. Please be sure to email me at laketheposts@gmail.com with news of new season ticket holder converts!!
