Late Day Links

A few late day links for your purple consumption:

  • Many of you have pointed out NU marketing scored bigtime by getting the 'Cats-Wisconsin game featured on power-of-the-people purchasing giant Groupon - which is offering $20 end zone seats until the end of today. The method is working as the LTP Ticket Counter is very quiet, nearly 400 people at the time of this post have purchased tickets! Let's keep it coming - click HERE to see the offer.
  • Teddy Greenstein and Chicago Breaking Sports News posted about Fitz's affirming of his commitment to NU. Does anyone REALLY believe he's even on the hotlist for Notre Dame? I don't think they're after him and I don't think he would want to go.

  • MyWrigleyville.com has a nice post on CJ Bacher and Keegan Kennedy's entrepreneurship with the launch of the first true Northwestern bar/restaurant, called The Purple Haze here. I think the coolest part is the roundtrip transportation provided to students on Thursday and Saturday nights - for $3. LTP was in contact with Keegan earlier this week for an interview and will deliver on that soon.
  • The Daily Northwestern offers a young coaches' connection angle to the Fitz/Bielema meeting on Saturday here.
  • First & Big Ten writes the article I've been waiting for as the Illini are FINALLY starting to get called out for their more-often-than-not losing ways, while NU is getting the winning-more-often-than-not angle. However, I hope this angle doesn't catch on as I want Zook to stay in Champaign forever!
  • Several of you have asked current astronaut and NU professor Robert Satcher to add a Northwestern flag to the LTP map which reminds me that we've been quiet there for some time. It is a good time to get some flags on the map in Wisconsin while we're at it! Click here to learn more about the NU connection on the Atlantis flight.
  • As we segue in to bowl speculation, apparently an avid pasttime here, NU prez, Morton Schapiro went vocal with his want for the Champs Sports Bowl. See here.

  • For those of you who are loving the bowl prognostications, our bowl expert Asher sent this YouTube video offering some insights in to the Champs Sports Bowl selection process:

That article about Purple Haze is actually from North by Northwestern. The source is only credited in teensy tiny font at the very end of the article. I can't speak for NBN but I'd be pissed if my work were treated that way.
