ESPN Adds Fuel to Cats "Under The Radar" Fire
Surprise, surprise. ESPN.com's (OK, Mark Schlabach's) CFB bowl picks don't have Northwestern in ANY bowl. Click here to NOT find us. As Northwestern football fans part of us hates the "we don't get any respect" factor of these types of things, while the other part of us gets fueled with the "just wait, you'll see" motivation. I'm hoping to be in Orlando for bowl season (Champs Bowl) decked out in Purple and hoping to erase images of Peyton Manning in orange. How 'bout you?

However, Stewart Mandel (NU alum) did answer my question in his mailbag, and pegged us for a berth to the Insight Bowl in Tempe....so we're getting SI.com love, even if Schlabach is a moron. Mandel also noted that we have the same formula going this year (experienced quality QB, excellent RB) that we had in past bowl seasons since 1995, with the added bonus of Hankwitz....
Oh, and we still haven't appeared yet on the NY Times Quad Blog countdown, and won't appear tomorrow, apparently.
I never heard of the NY Times Quad Blog until this year... is it well respected? I can honestly say I never turned to the NYT for my sports news.
Schlabach is a truly clueless college football writer who does little research and just picks up things he hears the PAs saying around the water cooler in Bristol.
There's so little imagination to these picks, it's kind of criminal.
I vote Insight as well. Can't beat a free place to stay and my backup sticks in the garage. Will cost me a lot more since I'll have to buy tickets for Mom and my brother + family, but you can't beat December golf in the Valley.
