The envelope please....It is award week on LTP and we kick it off with a tip of the cap to the crafty bloggers who made a lasting impact - good or bad - during this football season and offer them the most prestigious thing I can think of: corporate-branded purple beads.
Let the awards begin!
The Kevin O'Neill Award
Goes to Black Heart Gold Pants for language that would make the former NU hoops coach/linguist blush. It is one of LTP's selfish pleasures, and thus, the only positive thing I have to say about Iowa football. BHGP also wins the Kenneth "Dion" Lee award for most name changes of a blog in one season.
The Marshmallow Tossing Award
Goes to Gopher Nation. This eternal optimist continued to show up every day with posts despite suffering an insufferable "1-fer" season in Golden Gopher land. Gopher Nation managed to keep himself occupied by selfishly hosting the Big Ten Blogger weekly picks - and spend an increasing amount of time talking about hoops.
The Dave Eanet Award (aka most prepared)
Goes to Black Shoe Diaries. I don't care that there is no name on their jersey, BSD sets the bar for pregame analysis position by position. Perhaps Mr. Colby should have been paying more attention to BSD?
The NU 1996 Season Ticket Holder Award (aka bandwagoner)
Goes to DanShanoff.com. The Benedict Arnold of Wildcat Nation has all but started wearing a Tim Tebow outfit around town as his Purple-ness has bled to become orange and blue. Here's to a Michigan smackdown (yeah right) of Florida to get him back in line.
The Medill Journalism Award
Goes to MGoBlog. Despite the New York Times cracking him as "not exactly a rock of journalistic credibility" (which he widely uses in his promotional quotes), MGoBlog not only broke the Lloyd Carr retirement story (and received no credit), he also managed to get "mainstream" writers to write about him throughout the season. Their continued barbs only underscored the validity of bloggers.
The Rivals.com Wildcat Report Award
Goes to Boiled Sports. Well-written, high expectations, uncompromising written beatdowns of Joe Tiller and company only to lighten the mood with the occasional posts of hotties.
The "That's Alright, That's OK..." Award (aka - "Don't Taunt Award)
Goes to Enlightened Spartan. Leading up to the NU game, ES lit-up NU as an inexcusable, "will never happen" potential loss. It was old school reputation NU from ES. LTP took pleasure reading ES' posts the following week. I don't have an award for it, but ES also should win the most information per square inch award.
The REAL Men of Genius Award
Goes to the creator of the Real Men of Genius ND spoof... Chriskak Productions

This leaves me with 2 questions.
1. I'm not sure, but should I be offended?
2. How did Al Gore not win a LTP Bloggy?
Gopher Nation
For the record, BHGP is proud to be associated with the, ahem, colorful language of Kevin O'Neill. Not only does he curse like a sailor and look like a Mick, but his caretaker 'Zona squad knocked off ILLINI this weekend. So let us raise a glass to Kevin O'Neill, the best f*cking interim coach in college basketball.
Hey, man, this is very cool! And very cool of you to throw some props the way of your fellow bloggers... keep up the (always) good work.
@ tom - an LTP Bloggy is a coveted award!
@hawkeye state, er BHGP - NICE!
@jmoney - the check is in the mail
For the record, c*cksucker, our blog would prefer that you refer to it as Albert, and definitely not Joey.
